Manly Flood Benefit
Mobile Stage Truck are proud to have sponsored Manly Council's Flood Benefit Appeal by donating 'Big Red' as the Oceanfront Stage. Manly Beach looked stunning as competitors of the surf carnival mixed with thousands of people enjoying a hot Summer weekend.
The entertainment kicked off on Saturday afternoon with Jack Vidgen, who at 14 blew the crowd away with his beautiful voice and sunny personality. A definite star in the making!
As the heat of the day dropped slightly it was time for Bob Burton, MC to introduce the 1st of the bands, Infinite Jazz Connection which featured some of Australia's best known jazz musicians who played some up-beat Jazz favorites which pulled the crowd up from the beach to watch.
Following the smooth Jazz came Grover, one of the best Funk bands on the Sydney music scene. They upped the tempo and the crowd were on their feet dancing! As the evening air cooled, the stage welcomed Amali Ward and her band, including legend drummer Deva Permana, who sounded fantastic playing pop and some soul.
The final act of the evening was Funk Shui who almost pulled out of the event because 2 members got held up in traffic, but Christo the lead singer from Grover stepped in and they combined their amazing musical ability to create an unbelievable, spontaneous new group who rocked out and got the crowd dancing and crying for more!
Sunday afternoon was opened with Jack again and at 5pm Lionel Robinson got the crowd toe-tapping to some old classic 60's numbers, with a blend of jazz, latin and rock. A slight change of pace into some beautiful Cuban music with Serenata followed which pulled any last beach-dwellers up to the stage. The final act was Jeff Duff, a well- known entertainer who sang some great classic covers and left the audience wanting more.
During the entire event, an army of local volunteers were collecting donations for the flood victims so thanks to everyone's generosity a great deal of money will go towards the disaster-affected families.
Mobile Stage Truck had a fantastic weekend and thoroughly enjoyed working with the Manly Council Team who pulled together a brilliant event at short notice.
